Monthly wrap-ups

April 2020 wrap-up

My wrap up for April

I read 16 books in April, and although I was much more interested in reading this month than last month, I still pretty much took a break from reading for the entire last week. My brain couldn’t cope with much other than binging TV shows, so instead of feeling guilty about not getting through all the books I need to read (like I usually would), I just gave up and devoted my reading time to Netflix 😅

My 4.5 / 5 stars for this month were:

The Pieces of Ourselves: This was such an unexpected surprise.  I adored this mix of modern day and historical fiction!

My Lady Jane:  I had read the second book in this series a while ago, but not this one.  I absolutely loved it! I kind of already want to reread it.

Hideous Beauty:  This was one of my favourite reads for April.  A beautiful, heartbreaking book that I would highly recommend.

Thief of Time:   I’m trying to reread a bunch of my favourite Terry Pratchett books on audio.  I actually thought this book was a different book – the Discworld stories are all so intertwined and full that I sometimes lose track of what is in each book!  But its was still as great as I remember.

Turtle Boy:  This was a brilliant middle grade book that had a lot of heart and some really wonderful messages.

A Dog’s Promise: Another sweet tear jerker in this series.  I love the way these books are written from the point of view of the dog.  If you haven’t read any of these I’d highly recommend you give them a go!

Reaper Man: Another in my Terry Pratchett re-read.  This is one of my absolutely favourites in the Discworld series, if not THE favourite.  If you’ve never read Pratchett, this is a fantastic one to start with!

Other ones I really enjoyed were Landline, Nine Perfect Strangers, Harrow Lake, The Strangers we Know, The Gilded Ones, !

As usual, clicking on the pics below will take you to my reviews (Some reviews may not be live on my blog yet as I post them on the book’s release date due to publisher’s requests, so keep your eye on my blog for those reviews in May)  🙂

Let me know in the comments what your favourite read was for May
