This beautifully illustrated novel is a compendium of Artemis Fowl’s knowledge gleaned from The Book of the People and from his encounters with magical creatures and the LEP. Compiling notes from the sacred fairy tome and Artemis’s eventual plans to take down the LEP forces that stand in the way of his ultimate goal, Artemis Fowl’s Guide to the World of Fairies is a must-have for fans who are itching to dig deeper into the world of Artemis Fowl.
Disney’s “Artemis Fowl,” based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, is a fantastical, spellbinding adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of his loyal protector Butler, Artemis sets out to find him, and in doing so uncovers an ancient, underground civilization-the amazingly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan-so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.
Review
Thank you so much to Scholastic Australia for sending me a copy of Artemis Fowl: The World of Fairies, in exchange for an honest review!
Written for the Mud People of the world (that’s us), to help us understand the world of fairies, Artemis Fowl: Guide to the World of Fairies takes us through Trolls, Elves, Pixies, Sprites, Goblins, Gnomes, Gremlins, Dwarfs, Krakens, Demons, Centaurs and Fairy Technology. With chapters from Pixie Professor Seekem Oot, Sociial Anthropologist from Haven City University, Ivana Therey, Director of the Goblin Correctional Facility, Dr Belleva Beste, Haven City Inclusivity & Diversity Officer T.J. Fleetstream, Captain Jack Custard, Chief Training Officer Paye Tention and Foaly, the well known Centaur genius, we’re treated to inside information on how to spot and identify creatures, together with their customs and abilities. Distributed throughout are messages from Artemis Fowl characters Butler and Mulch, plus some truly stunning illustrations.
This book is the perfect companion to the Artemis Fowl books, for some in depth background on some of the creatures, and in keeping with the series, includes some trademark humour (especially from my favourite, Mulch) and clever messages from Artemis himself. It is beautifully set out, with incredible artwork, handwritten type notes, symbols and more. A beautiful display book for the shelf that is suitable for adults and children alike!
