My wrap up for October

I somehow managed to read 18 books this month, even though I was consciously trying to not read every night and spend some time watching TV or playing board games with my husband! I also wanted to get through a bunch of spooky reads this month and I did!

My 4.5 / 5 stars for this month were:

Let Me Hear a Rhyme:  I loved Grown, that I read last month, so much so I had to check out more books by the same author.  This one was just as brilliant!

Defying the Ghosts:  So much more than a standard haunted house story!  This was an unexpected favourite

Macario’s Scepter:  After chatting to the lovely author of this book on bookstagram, and realising she wrote pirate books (!) I had to start this series.  It was fantastic!  Action packed with characters I fell in love with, I need to get my hands on the next book.

Punching the Air:  A powerful and unforgettable book, written in prose and adorned with sketches that enhance the reading  experience.

Solutions and Other Problems:  I pre-ordered this book seven years  ago (no, that’s not a typo 😂) so you could say it was highly anticipated!  The author had to put it on hold when she had some truly awful events  bombard her in  a short amount of time, but I’m so glad we finally got this book!

The Hunting Party:  I’ve been meaning to read this one for a while and finally listened to it on audio. I’d highly recommend the audio book, it was great!

The Once and Future Witches:  THE  PERFECT WITCHY READ.  Yep, I said it.  This one was everything I wanted in a witchy book!

Poisoned: I loved this author’s book, Stepsister, and Poisoned was another excellent fairytale retelling.  If you enjoy dark retellings, you should definitely check these books out.

The Guest List:  By the same author as The Hunting Party, I decided to listen to this one too and loved it even more! The type of murder mystery that had me totally convinced every one of the characters was guilty until the very end!

The Inheritance Games:  I  was so excited for this one and it was every bit as good as I’d hoped!  Brilliant characters, enticing games and betrayals galore!

As usual, clicking on the pics below will take you to my reviews (Some reviews may not be live on my blog yet as I post them on the book’s release date due to publisher’s requests, so keep your eye on my blog for those reviews in November)  🙂

Let me know in the comments what your favourite read was for October!
