Review

Thankyou to Pan Macmillan Australia for providing me with a copy of People Like Here, in exchange for an honest review.

Emmy is a famous ‘instamum’. Her brand revolves around the casual parenting approach and helping other struggling mums to feel like they’re doing ok. Brands pay her big money to advertise to her followers and so what if she tells a few white lies? But as her misrepresentations mount, someone is not at all happy with Emmy. Someone who thinks she knows exactly what Emmy deserves.

This year seems to be bringing several books about the dark side of influencing and I am a sucker for them! People Like Her is a riveting read, told from several points of view – Emmy’s, her struggling writer husband Dan’s and a mystery woman. I really enjoyed the way a past mystery unraveled throughout the book, although the reasoning behind it was particularly horrifying. I didn’t particularly like Emmy’s character and empathized more with her husband and even the ‘villain’ in the story, but to be honest, I quite enjoy stories with main characters I give side eye to the whole way through 😄

This was a clever and addictive story with a heart pounding conclusion!
