On the eve of her Woodlander apprenticeship, Leo witnesses a series of strange events that force her to accept that her uncomplicated life will never be the same again. Together with her new friend, Nash, they discover that the Wonderlore – the fairies, goblins, sprites and Jack-o’-lanterns brought to life in bedtime stories – actually exist. And that these ancient Clans are being decimated by a dark force. Leo is thrown head first into a magical world, discovering that those close to her are not who they seem. Will Leo finally understand what being the last Woodlander truly means? Will she be able to help the magical world survive its greatest fight? The captivating first instalment of The Woodlander young adult YA fantasy series. The Arrival of Fate is a journey brimming with mysterious enchantment and discovery.

Review

Thank you to Brian MacShane and Read the Book Tours  for providing me with a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review!

Leo is set to become the next ‘Woodlander’ apprentice, after Bear, the man she has lived with most of her life.  Looking after the forest and keeping meticulous records keeps them busy, as well as the occasional journey into the town.  After a strange encounter, with some not quite human creatures, on her way back from one of these trips, Leo senses that something odd is going on.  Bear has always told her fairytales about mythical beings, but they’re not real, right?

As Leo, her dog Aurora and her new friend Nash set out to decipher events that are becoming more and more unexplainable, they don’t realise the danger that is lurking around the corner.

The Woodlander: The Arrival of Fate was such a perfect adventure!  I absolutely love books that sweep you away with their magic and this one did just that.  The descriptions of the different creatures, the friendship between Leo and Nash and the bond between Leo and Aurora were all so wonderful.  The entire story had such a fairytale feel to it and plenty of ‘heart in my mouth’ moments.  I am really looking forward to seeing where the next book goes, now that Leo has made the discoveries she did in The Arrival of Fate!
