We all have stories we never tell.
Before Owen Michaels disappears, he manages to smuggle a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her.

Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly to whom the note refers: Owen’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey. Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child. Bailey, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother.

As Hannah’s increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered; as the FBI arrests Owen’s boss; as a US Marshal and FBI agents arrive at her Sausalito home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes her husband isn’t who he said he was. And that Bailey just may hold the key to figuring out Owen’s true identity—and why he really disappeared.

Hannah and Bailey set out to discover the truth, together. But as they start putting together the pieces of Owen’s past, they soon realize they are also building a new future. One neither Hannah nor Bailey could have anticipated.

Review

Thankyou to Allen & Unwin for providing me with a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

Hannah lives in a beautiful house with her husband, Owen, and 16 year old step Daughter, Bailey. Her biggest hurdle in life is trying to get Bailey accept her into the family. That is until her husband disappears and his workplace is all over the news. It seems Owen lied about a lot of things and now it’s up to Hannah and Bailey to figure out who he really was.

I’ve been loving family mysteries and thrillers at the moment and this one was so intriguing!  The underlying sense of urgency in this one really worked for me. Hannah had such a lot on her plate, trying to navigate life with a stressed and devastated teenager, while knowing her husband’s lies could send their lives into a downward spiral.  The Last Thing He Told Me kept me hooked with the slow reveal of information. I desperately needed to know exactly what had Owen on the run!

If you enjoy domestic thrillers and mysteries, I’d recommend checking this one out.
