About This Book
The Disney babies visit animals and their young on the farm. On board pages.
Our Review
This bilingual board book, published in Spanish by Scholastic en Espanol, follows Disney's baby characters on a visit to a farm, where the real focus is on matching animal parents with their young, a cow with her calf, a sheep with her lamb. The pages are simple and uncluttered on purpose, built around simple, clear pictures for a toddler who's still learning to point and name. At just 6 board pages, it's a short, sturdy read sized for the younger end of the 1-to-3 range.
Pairing familiar Disney characters with actual animal-family concepts gives the book two jobs at once: a toddler gets the comfort of recognizing characters they already know, plus early vocabulary around animals and the specific idea that baby animals belong to parent animals, a slightly more advanced concept than just naming animals on their own. Because the whole book is only a handful of pages, it holds up well to being read multiple times in one sitting, which matters for a toddler who wants the cow-and-calf page again immediately after finishing it. It's an easy one to add to a Spanish-speaking household's shelf for building early farm vocabulary.
